HEALTH
The Caledonian health system has witnessed a rapid increase in the offer of medical services and in particular of hospital services. Some recent openings include the Médipole, the Nouville clinic in the Southern Province and the Koné hospital center for the Northern Province. Nevertheless, New Caledonia must contend with an aging population increasingly affected by chronic diseases.
In 2018, the “Do Kamo” plan entered its operational phase. It aims to reform the health system by taking into account demographic, economic and social changes in the territory (aging of the population, increase in long-term illnesses, economic slowdown, etc.) in order to make it sustainable in the long term.

Centre Hospitalier du Nord (CHN)
3 establishments make the CHN: the Paula Thavoavianon hospital in Koumac, the Raymond Doui Nebayes hospital in Poindimie and the Pôle Sanitaire du Nord à Koné, which opened in November 2018 with the objective of covering 75% of the needs of the population of the Northern Province and improving geographic accessibility to hospital care. The establishment is equipped with a complete medico-technical platform, a SMUR (Mobile Service for Emergency and Resuscitation) and a scanner.
Centre Medical du Pacifique
The Pacific Medical Center is currently under construction.
Clinique Kuindo-Magnin
Clinique Kuindo-Magnin opened in October 2018 in Nouméa. It brings together on a single site the three private clinics of Magnin, Baie des Citrons and Anse Vata. The new facility has a capacity of 219 beds and places in medicine-surgery-obstetrics (MCO) and 25 beds for follow-up care and rehabilitation.
Intermed
Intermed offers consulting and medical engineering, including logistics and storage services. Intermed works in collaboration with the biggest brands in the medical field, in order to provide healthcare professionals with innovative and tailor-made solutions dedicated to the well-being of their patients.
Maison de la santé de Yaté
The construction of the Yaté Health Center was launched at the end of 2017, with an opening scheduled for 2020. This project is part of the 2017-2021 development contract, for a total cost of 440 million XPF, co-financed by the state and the southern province.
Le Médipôle - Centre Hospitalier Territorial Gaston-Bourret
The Médipôle brings together the services of the CHT Gaston Bourret and the Magenta hospital, it opened in December 2016. The hospital brings together around a single technical platform (surgery, intensive care, resuscitation ...) for an optimized medical care of the patient.
It is the backbone of the Caledonian health system and the biggest public hospital on the island. It has 528 beds and places (long-term capacity of 645 beds and places) and is the second biggest employer on the island with over 2000 employees.
