The Government of New Caledonia has extended international flight arrival and departure restrictions until the end of July 2021. The flight ban was initially planned to end in March 2021 but has been extended due to the ongoing COVID19 situation.

One flight per week will be maintained with France, via Japan, as well as Sydney for medical evacuations. Travel between Wallis and New Caledonia will continue as normal. Professionals who are critical to the economic development of the island will still be able to travel to the island but must complete quarantine. Individuals who are coming to New Caledonia for urgent need will be required to pay a 14-day hotel quarantine fee at their own expense, totalling 500,000 CFP.

Spokesperson for the Government of New Caledonia, Christopher Gyges, said that discussions were currently occurring between the government and other countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Vanuatu, although there has been no agreement put in place. The Government of New Caledonia will prioritise maintaining the current health situation, whilst making progress at a cautious approach.
